Morning in Montmartre

Montmartre has been called home by many of the great artists of the world: Van Gogh, Dalí, Monet, and Picasso. It is easy to see why. There is beauty and charm around every corner. The views of Paris as far as the eye can see, the winding cobblestone paths, and the small cottages covered in mossy greens. At times it feels as though you have been transported to a small village, within the city of lights.

Iconic cafes line the streets, waiting for the patrons to come knocking on their doors. I imagine artists coming here to sit outside on the terrace for a café before locking themselves away in their studios.

Sunrise is my favorite time of day, because of the stillness. The glow and possibility of a new day, when the city is still sleeping, and for a moment you have Paris all to yourself.

Montmartre was at one time a village on the outskirts of the city. Today, it is a part of the vast metropolis of Paris, yet it still holds that charm of times past. I could walk forever through these steep and winding streets, pausing to appreciate all of the details and charm.
